Property types in Candle Lake

The resort village of Candle Lake is on the eastern shore of a body of water, also called Candle Lake, in central Saskatchewan in Western Canada. It is approximately a 50 minute drive northeast of Prince Albert.

The name comes from a Cree legend that tells of the paranormal activity of flickering lights appearing at the north end of the lake, which have reportedly been seen even up to current times. Those who don't believe that story have a theory that the lights are just caused by a gas coming from decaying driftwood.

The area is a popular tourist vacation destination and a beautiful community to call home because of beautiful beaches, the lake for swimming and sport fishing, five boat launches around the lake, campgrounds, approximately 1600 residential properties, 300 provincial park sites, and more than 500 seasonal recreational vehicle sites. Active organizations make this a fun-filled community with activities for all ages.

Snowmobiling. This is the number one winter sport in Candle Lake with a multitude of more than 330 km of groomed and marked winding trails and warm up facilities in the area. You can go through thick pine forests, open fields, or sled across frozen lakes. There are also local snowmobiling clubs.

Curling. The Candle Lake Curling Club has built a great indoor facility that houses three natural ice rinks. It also provided the venue for the Candle Lake MS Walk described below.

Annual Candle Lake MS Walk. On May 24, 2014 the 13th annual MS Walk was a big success with the oldest walker age 104 and the youngest age 4! Local and Prince Albert businesses donated many cash donations and door prizes, and many volunteers gave freely of their time and efforts including men who had to blow up about 100 balloons to decorate the walls! There were about 75 Walkers out, and the Walk raised approximately $13,000.00.
