Property types in Duncan

Duncan, British Columbia is a serene waterside community. Located on a tributary river feeding off of the Moresby Passage, a lot of fishing and recreational boats line the harbors. Directly off of the Passage is the Strait of Juan de Fuca leading out to the magnificent Pacific Ocean. Water loving residents can get the best of all worlds with river, bay, ocean and even lake water sports available. Duncan has two large freshwater lakes to the north, Somenos and Quamichan Lakes.

Water isn’t all that Duncan has to offer its residents. There are tremendous mountain ranges, wide open prairies and prairie grass preserves as well as many wonderful golf courses as well. Homes in the area span the entire range of architecture. Single family, condominium, waterfront, wilderness and mountainside homes are all commonly found in all price ranges.

In town residents can relax at one of many local breweries and distilleries. There are even cideries for those chilly nights, and several hot springs locations to soak away cares and worries. The buildings downtown will take residents back to the area’s cultural heritage of a quaint fishing village while offering up all of the modern day conveniences of any metropolis.

Duncan is known for its large collection of totem poles scattered about the town. That is just one of its many charms. The city was founded by the Cowichan Tribes, a band of coastal people that thrived in the lumber and fish community of the early days of the town. There is a community secondary school and several grade schools for the area, and two private schools.

Duncan, BC is especially suited to outdoor lovers and those who want a close, community feel. The entire shopping district downtown with all of its specialty shops, vintage buildings, restaurants and nightlife is walkable and has a friendly homespun atmosphere.
