Newmarket is a vibrant community located north of the city of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and is part of the Greater Toronto Area. Many residents commute to Toronto and the surrounding communities. Settled in 1801, Newmarket was incorporated as a village in 1857 and as a town in 1880.

"MoneySense" magazine in its "Canada's Best Places to Live in 2013" ranked Newmarket tenth out of 200 Canadian cities and fourth out of the "Top 10 Small Cities" in Canada.

Elman W Campbell Museum. For free admission, learn about the history of Newmarket with activities and hands on exhibits. There is a miniature model of old Newmarket and antiques.

Historical Society. You can join this and attend meetings every third Thursday of the month, except July and August, where guest speakers will talk about important events such as the development of the railways and the arrival of the first Quaker settlers.

Historic Main Street Area. For more than 100 years, Main Street has been the hub of commerce, social and cultural activity as well as shopping and dining options. The town received $3.4 million from the Build Canada Fund to renovate the Old Town Hall to its former glory and provide a new venue for community activities. In 2010, construction began on a new rapid transit service, which will provide the business and residential community with a convenient, fast and reliable alternative to driving.

As of June 2014, the town was in the final stages of establishing a "Heritage Conservation District" that will officially recognize and protect the buildings that have been designated as Heritage Sites.

Newmarket Riverwalk Commons is a multi-season multi-use recreational park with a Community Center, a pond that converts to an ice skating rink in the winter, a Farmer's Market area, a performance area, and trail extensions.
