White Rock is a seaside city that was incorporated April 15, 1957, in British Columbia, Canada. Situated only 30 miles south of Vancouver, a two-hour drive north of Seattle, and with the Canada/USA border only 10 minutes away, this is a popular tourist destination year round and also an appealing place for workers and families to live with its picturesque charm, historic sites, and cultural offerings.

White Rock is also well-known for its beautiful beaches, a 1,500 foot boardwalk on the pier, swimming, kayaking, fishing, art galleries and other shops, fine dining, golfing and festivals.

The name comes from a 486-ton white granite boulder on the beach that migrated south during the last glaciation. It was kept so white by shellfish-eating seabirds that 19th-century sailors used it as a beacon. It is now kept white through monthly painting by the city parks department.

Pilots often refer to White Rock as 'the hole in the sky' because the city is often bright and sunny when the rest of the Lower Mainland is covered by clouds.

Party on the Pier. To celebrate 100 years of the White Rock Pier and the 40th Anniversary of Semiahmoo Arts on August 28, 2014, this “Party of the Century” fundraiser included music, artists painting, a silent auction, actors in period costume, a sharing of stories and remembrances, dancing and more. Each donor enjoyed delicious appetizers and received a complimentary commemorative glass

Spirit of the Sea Festival. During the first weekend of August since 1949, this festival includes a parade, music, a sand castle competition, fireworks, and other beach-related activities.
